In the morning of September 5th, Ricardo Robert, Deputy Minister of the Cuba Ministry of Communications, together with Juan Caballero, President of Cuba Bus Company, a vice president of a Tourism Company, and a technical director, visited Yutong Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. The delegation received a warm reception from Li Yong, Chairman, Secretary of the Party Committee, and General Manager of Yutong Heavy Industries.
Visit Overview
The high-level Cuban delegation arrived at Yutong's Zhengzhou facilities for a comprehensive visit. Chairman Li Yong personally welcomed the distinguished minister at the office building and escorted the delegation to view the corporate video, which provided an overview of Yutong Group's development, manufacturing capabilities, and global business presence. During the tour of Workshop Area A, Chairman Li explained to the minister the design, features, and applications of Yutong's road wrecker products. The visit demonstrated Yutong's commitment to developing its Cuban market and supporting the country's transportation infrastructure.
Bilateral Context
This visit took place following the state visit of Chairman Xi Jinping to Cuba earlier in July of the same year, which laid a strong foundation for trade cooperation between China and Cuba. Tang Yuxiang, Chairman of Yutong Group, had accompanied Chairman Xi during the visit to Cuba, where they visited significant clients of the Cuba Ministry of Communications, the Department of Industry, and the Tourism Company. This high-level engagement demonstrated Yutong's strategic focus on the Cuban market and its determination to support Cuba's transportation industry development. The political momentum from the state visit created a favorable environment for commercial cooperation between the two countries.
Business Opportunities
Currently, Cuba has a bus inventory of 4,497 units, indicating significant demand potential for supporting special vehicles such as road wreckers. During the visit, the delegation from the Bus Company subordinate to the Cuba Ministry of Communications expressed plans to purchase two units of road wreckers. Additionally, the accompanying Tourism Company representative indicated interest in purchasing Yutong special vehicles the following year. These prospective orders represent meaningful business opportunities that build on the existing Yutong bus presence in Cuba and expand the relationship into the special vehicle and heavy equipment sector.
